Symbols on the medallion – what it means?
I'm interested in antique jewelry. I've seen a few old medallions with this symbol on them http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayisapi.dll?vie …. You know what I mean? I do not think it is a monogram, because the same sign I have seen very few of them. In the old days, people used to duel medallions For example, a tuft of hair on them, to remember the dead. Could you be the alpha and omega (a biblical symbol for the Christ, the beginning and the end as the beginning and the end of the Greek alphabet)? I have also seen some that look like an S with three overlapping – I thought of IHS, but not sure.
