An overview of Process Shrink

In our daily life we have found products packaged in shrink many times. It has been considered as an effective method for storing and transporting goods without being damaged. In general, the shrink is used to protect fragile products glasses, DVDs, CDs, tapes, software boxes, food, soap, etc. Shrink wrapping is a simple method where the shrink film envelope is heated to form a protective seal covering the product. The shrink film is usually made from PVC or polyolefin.

Reducing packaging method is the same for all products regardless its size and fragility. The process is so simple that can be done easily in the DIY (Do It Yourself) procedure. Some artists do shrink to protect their paint dust and also to give a professional look. For casual wraps, you can get the shrink film packaging for retailers and the media heat dryer hair. But if there are lots of products to be wrapped, it would be better to go for shrink wrapping machines.

The different types of computers that are shrinking available would help to carry out the adjustment process in the home or office. The machines vary in size and function, and you have to select the most adequate based on the amount and type of packaging. Some machines are designed to wrap small items like CDs and DVDs, while other machines are used to pack large boxes. They vary in the speed of packing. Some of them were designed to involve only a few items at a time, but some types can pack hundreds of people in an hour. The larger machines are usually installed permanently, but would be small portable machines.

In earlier days, the shrinking was only used for industrial purposes and usually requires a large amount of manpower for its operation. But with the advent of technology, small wrap machines are also available to small industries. Two types of equipment commonly used in the packaging process, the L-bar and R-machine. For the low to medium volume packaging, I-bar machines are most suitable. They use a single bar for sealing. The bar is used to cut the film packing required, which is heated by a heat gun. At the same time the movie contract and seal the subject. CDs, DVDs and tapes video are involved with this type of equipment and only a few elements can be processed in an hour.

To wrap a large-scale processes, L-bar shrink wrapper are usually used. In this type, the sealing bar would be in the form of English alphabet 'L'. In a single pass, the short bar the required amount of the film. In addition, the film is heated by heat gun or heat tunnel is done to reduce the size of the product. For decreasing rapidly, tunnel heat is more effective than heat gun. Many L-bar machines have been built and heat in the tunnel system. The shrink film wrapping also differ in film thickness, flexibility, clarity and the melting temperature of the film. Polyolefin are best suited for automated machines and has a great clarity. But PVC films are more resistant to breakage.
