Sew your own Christmas Decorations

As for making your own advent calendar can be hung on the wall and fill with their own special gifts for children? What to do his own Christmas stocking to hang by the fireplace, or Make Your own gift bags for all Christmas gifts? In this article I to show how easy it is to sew these at home, and at a fraction of the price paid in stores.

Advent Calendar

This Advent Calendar is basically a rectangle of material with 25 pockets sewn in (all numbered, of course) that can be hung on the wall and fill special gifts and sweets for children.

Suitable Fabrics and Notions

For the fabric of music is needed something thick enough to withstand the weight of the question to be put in their pockets.

In fact, I was recommended by the support, for pockets and for numbers from 1 to 25 (indicating the countdown to Christmas). The feeling is that beauty is not necessary that the hem as it does not fray. Try to get three different colors – Eg green for the back, red pockets, and white for the numbers.

We also need two pieces of fine wood for top and bottom of perch, and some chain or rope for hanging.

How much fabric to buy

For the lining fabric, have one piece, 50 "tall by 22" wide. This allows for "three times more than in the hem of her wooden point. If your timber is greater than this, then you have to get a longer piece of fabric.

Each bag is "square in April, and we have 25 of these. You'll have 20" 28.

We will allow 3 "square for each letter. You'll have 15" by 15 ". For a template of numbers, see the box author of resources at the end of this article.

Note that these measurements do not allow me to hem felt, however, if you decide to use requiring a different fabric hems, then you need to add a seam allowance, both for height and width.

Makeup

For the prep work, all we need are pins or tailor's chalk, a ruler, the number of templates and scissors. There is no pattern required!

First, cut the 25 pockets. You can use a ruler and tailors chalk to mark the guidelines for cutting. If you do not have tailors chalk crayon White will do the trick! Pockets are 4 "by 4".

Now cut and mark your serial number to the fabric and cut.

To place the numbers the pockets can make a point of the machine, hand sewing, or using craft glue.

Place the lining fabric on a table and check in their pockets are going to get with pins or tailors chalk. We will have 4 pockets wide, then 6 down, and the number pocket 25 itself at the bottom (though feel free to change this scheme, if desired).

Each bag has a 2 "gap around it. So the first bag is 5" down from the top of the fabric (remember that have allowed 3 "for the wooden hook to go through) and 2" from the left. The pocket of the day, 2 "from the front. To see a diagram of this design, see the author resource box.

Pin in place, and then close the machine along the left, bottom and right sides.

Cut pieces of wood so that one is slightly shorter than its width (for the bottom hem, so it can include), and a little more time (say 1 / 2 "to each side). Drill small holes at each end of this piece and what you can through your thread hanging chain or rope.

When all the pockets are together, use your machine to sew the top and bottom hems, then insert your wood. You may want to close the edges of the bottom hem if Wood likely to come out. You can do this by hand.

Now, place the rope through the holes in the top piece of wood and hang up. And do not forget to fill with goodies!

Gift Bag

It is very easy to make a Christmas gift bag to delight friends and family, and is reusable!

Suitable Fabrics and Notions

For the bag is heavy enough to need something it can support itself without any kind of presents on it. Again, I recommend felt. The beauty of feeling is that it is not necessary as the hem that does not fray.

If you want to decorate the cloth bag with cuts in Christmas shapes, you can use any fabric you want (again, feel is right for this.) For a template Christmas cut-outs, see the author's resource box at the end of this article.

How much fabric to buy

The bag measures 8 "in diameter and 12" high, and you will need two pieces of cloth for the sides, and a piece of 3 "wide by 24" long for the side. Adding a margin of half-inch seam, we'll need a piece of fabric 13 "by 24".

El Patron

To make your pattern, you only need one sheet of paper, a ruler and compass (or something circular with a diameter of 8 "and one with a diameter 4 ").

Draw a square on paper 8 "by 8". Now put an x every 2 "on the top line of the square. Place the compass the midpoint (in the 4 "mark) and expand so that plays exactly one of the outer edges. Now use your compass to draw a semicircle from one side to another. Then remove the compass so that plays exactly one of the two "brands, and draw a semicircle from one side to another. Cut out the half and now has a handle of the bag!

Do not cut out yet! We still have to add the seam allowance of the left and right and bottom so that we can put the side piece that will join the two larger pieces together.

Draw a line ½ "from each of left and right sides and along the bottom. This is your template cutting. To view a diagram of this, see the author resource box at the end of this article.

Fold the cloth bag in half, right sides together. PIN in your purse template and cut out.

Now fold the remaining fabric flat and cut a long rectangle 24 "by 4" (this allows for a ½ "seam or side).

Makeup

If you are going to decorate your gift bag with Christmas cutouts, do it now before assemble the bag. The cuts can be machine sewn, hand sewn, or craft stick.

To make the bag, take the long piece of rectangular cloth, and with the right sides together, pin in the front of the bag. Thing. Now, place the back of the bag along the other edge (right sides together) and stitch.

Turn so correct, and you're done!

Christmas Stockings

Homemade Christmas stockings can be personalized for each member family – Why not to involve children in making and decorating them!

Suitable Fabrics and Notions

The sky is the limit for stocking stuffers. Some beautiful fabrics including velvet and corduroy, fake fur, fleece and cotton prints and ginghams. A search through the remains of containers, or just check out all the red cloth in its local fabric store.

You may also want to obtain as a white faux fur trim at the top of the media, and some fabric cutouts to decorate for Christmas average.

How it looks nice, is a difference adjustment to each child's name on it.

How much fabric to buy

The average is basically a rectangle 6 "by 14" and a square 6 "by 6". You need two of these for each planting, so that, including a seam ½ ", you need a piece of fabric 14" by 15 "per half.

You will also need something matching braid for hanging storage, or you can make a hanger with the excess fabric.

The pattern

To make your pattern, you only need one sheet of paper, a ruler, and somewhat circular to round the corners. (To see a diagram of this model, see the author resource box at the end of this article.)

Draw a rectangle in document 15 "long by 7 wide. Now draw a square touch the lower left-hand rectangle that goes to 6 ½ And up to 7 ", and then rejoin the rectangle.

You should now have a form that looks like a backwards capital L. Now all you have to do is to round off the toe and heel of his socks with something circular (or make a show of hands).

Fold fabric in half with right sides together, and pin structure population to the web. Now cut.

If you are making a contrast cut for storage, also have to cut out a rectangle 13 " however long you want your cut (more than ½ "seam allowance).

Makeup

If you are going to decorate your Christmas seeding cuts or wall, do it now, before mounting the media. The cuts can be machine sewn, hand sewn or attached with art glue.

The same goes for contrast adjustment. Anything you ant to what to do before sewing it to the media.

To make the average take the two parts of the population (right sides), and sew the top on one side all the way around the top of the other side. If you are not installing a contrast crop, rotate on its upper edge and the pin, not forgetting to insert the mesh or fabric to the suspension before sewing the hem.

If you are using a contrast cut, turn the stocking inside out so that the right side is facing you.

Sewing the seat next to the ends so that they now have a circle fabric. Put your seat into the top of the stocking with the right side facing the interior of the half. Align the top of the compensation to the upper half, and pin in place.

Take your braid or fabric for support, and insert it anywhere between the seat and stocking with open ends flush with the top of the seat and storage. Now sew around the entire upper half. Turn the trim around the right path, and you're done!
