Latest Card Technologies —For Confidentiality and Integrity

This is the era of card technology. From the latest and best quality card printers to various business & promotional cards, latest credit cars, ID cards, smart card, memory cards, RFID card, contactless card, and various types of card readers; technology is widely used in cards industry. Embedded with computer chip, a smart card can stores and transacts data between users and can be programmed for different applications.  The card data can be transacted via a reader that is part of a computing system. Cards like smart cards and RFID (Radio-frequency identification) cards are used in many different fields, such as finance, telecommunications, security, tax, parking, hospitals, retail and hotels and so on.

In today’s world protecting our privacy and personal information is very crucial for confidentiality and integrity. That’s why most advanced technologies are now used in cards to make them more secure and functional than ever before. Putting electronically readable technologies into identity credentials can add greater convenience for the cardholder, plus improve operational efficiency and security compared to identity credentials without these features. Two frequently used electronically readable technologies are RFID and RF-enabled smart card technology.

Both contactless smart cards and RFID use radio frequencies for communicating between the card and reader. RFID is mainly meant for applications within the supply chain, for track and trace. RFID-enabled cards offer consumers the convenience of letting bank or store employees identify them upon entrance. For example, since a store’s RFID system would recognize consumers who shop there often, details such as the sizes they wear, or what they most recently purchased, would be available as soon as they entered the store, allowing an employee to cater to their particular tastes more easily.

Contactless cards deliver the highest levels of computer security to protect your identity, privacy or financial information.  Contactless smart card technology is suitable for uses such as identity credentials, passports, mass transit, government and ID, access control, and payment cards.

Depending upon the different types of cards different types of card readers are also available in the market. The reader provides a path for your application to send and receive commands from the card. There are magnetic card readers that scan only those cards having magnetic strips coated over the data and there are more advance smart card readers also known as also known as card programmers (because they can write to a card). When the smart card and the card reader come into contact, each identifies itself to the other by sending and receiving information. If the messages exchanged do not match, no further processing takes place. So, unlike ordinary bank cards, smart cards can defend themselves against unauthorized users and uses in innovative security measures.

Latest card printers can provide you the low, medium or high volumes of printing. You can choose single or dual side printers, options like magnetic, chip and RFID encoder are all available to make cards for variety of applications like Employee ID and Access Cards, Student and Faculty ID’s, Membership Cards, Personalized Loyalty and Gift Cards. RFID technology makes printing easy while taking security a step further, ensuring that only authorized individuals are able to print identification cards. Plastic card printer is also becoming increasingly popular throughout many industries and marketplaces to give more durable and great looking cards.

How do i use a SD Card reader/writer?

I just got a SD Card reader and writer, but i’m not sure how to use it; i follow the instructions and nothing happens. Everytime i take my SD card out my camera and put it in the Reader nothing shows up on my laptop. Can any one tell me how a SD reader suppose to work.

You did take some pictures right? Usually card readers appear as an additional drive. If you go to My Computer there should be a drive you don’t recognize. Double Click on it. If it has your photos in it there will usually be another folder like “DCIM” then inside that will be the numbered folders with the images.
If you add more details as to what you have tried, we might be able to help more.
