Automakers Decrease Create Designs for pedestrian fatalities and injuries
According to the Administration of National Highway Safety Transportation (NHTSA) January1st and October 31 are the two deadliest days of the year for pedestrian fatalities. Autumn is the season for the highest rate of pedestrian fatalities. The three-hour period of time between the hours of 6 pm and 9 pm is the highest rate of any other period of time three hours of pedestrian deaths. Friday and Saturday are higher mortality rates than any other day of the week. One in five pedestrians killed were killed in hit and run accident. This report also states that deaths pedestrians have been reduced in the last ten years from 13% to 11% of motor vehicle deaths. Part of the reason for the decline is vehicle designs have changed in recent years to reduce injuries when a car hits a pedestrian.
While automakers have made strides to protect several the safety of the occupants inside the vehicle which now focus on the safety of people outside the vehicles. The study of pedestrian accidents is not as easy as it sounds.
