Trying to replace clutch cover on my Husqvarna 350 chain saw.?
I took the clutch cover off to replace the chain. All went well until I tried to replace the cover. Inside the cover is a metal strap that is designed to fit tightly over the clutch. The strap isn’t perfectly round and I can’t get it to go over the clutch. What’s the trick? I must be missing something in a way to easily put the cover back on.
OK, this is easy. The issue here is that your chain brake is on. That metal strap is the chain brake. it is connected to the safety guard which sits in front of the top handle of the saw. It is usually Black Plastic although on some older huskies it is aluminum. The guard extends up and forward from the clutch cover. Simply pull the guard back (towards the trigger handle if the cover was mounted on the saw). This will release the chain brake and the cover should slide on with no problem.
