Exotic Critters
I'm curious about exotic pets … are limited due to allergies and the owners of space.?
We have rabbits, hedgehogs, ferrets, fish, mice or hamsters … there was a bunny and loved it, but I'd like to hear about all these little creatures! What do you prefer? what makes you feel this way?
Although I can not answer for rabbits, hedgehogs, fish, mice, hamsters or ferrets and I love it are my favorites of you on the list, but definitely not for everyone. I had four of them, and here are some of the pros and cons. Hopefully this will help to decide whether or not they might be a good pet for you.
Advantages: 1. Very funny, intelligent and loving but regularly trained and managed a team. 2. Enjoy human interaction, and is often good with other animals. Mina play with my cats and small dogs, not even the slightest hint of hostility. 3. Can be trained to use a litter box. 4. Very fun to watch them run around the room dooking, dancing, antics and enjoy life otherwise. 5. Can be a great apartment pet for someone whose owner does not allow dogs or cats. 6. While it is necessary to be vaccinated, not the disease and insect ridden. Most of them are actually very clean, and for every 20 000 cats who get the disease, 10 ferrets do. 7. While initial cost is expensive to seem to be cheaper to keep over all whom a dog or cat. 8. No matter how bad a day you are having, it is impossible not to smile with them running around with excitement, trying to get them to join in their games. 9. If you have a rodent infestation in your home, be no more. Ferrets are exceptionally good mousers:. Disadvantages 1. As you've probably heard of, have a natural musky odor to them. However, the smell really really do not stay in the ferret, and if someone clean their cage and litter box every day or every other day then just smell. One tip, however. Feeding your carpet sharks food law reduces the smell considerably. I use Nutro kitten food bag color pink, and oddly enough people have commented that my ferrets smelled a scent of musk. Use of incense, diffusers, and scented candles are also great for removing odors in an area occupied by ferrets. 2. They are higher maintenance then, for example, a dog or cat. They need lots of attention, someone with who spend a minimum of two hours a day playing with them and keep them out of trouble, and must have his bed and bed linen changed at least five days a week. 3. Never be 100% in training as a cat litter. They occasionally have an accident, and if someone can not handle that, this is not a good pet for them. 4. It get into EVERYTHING. I always say that if they are the architects of the animal kingdom, beavers, then ferrets are the interior decorators. Cabinets have proof locks children, you will find them in places you might even wonder, are digging in potted plants, it will "reorganize" its cage, I love stealing phones, remote controls, car keys, pencils, pen, water bottles, and all he can get his paws on. Ring comes from a Latin word means "little fur thief." This is not a cute nickname. This is an omen. Putting things and the shape of a ferret will become a way of life. 5. You really need to get two or three of them. Most of them do not do well alone. 6. If something goes wrong in the management or formation of a team, you can have a monster in its hands. Have to be nip-trained, played, and manipulated for hours on end when they are babies to ensure they are more friendly than it might be. 7. They are illegal in some areas, and there is a heavy fine for anyone caught with them somewhere that they are not allowed. California is a 2.000 dollar fine per ferret. Excess of all, if someone have the right family, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Certainly not for most people yes. Have to be a very tolerant, responsible owner, a patient is in place enough to keep up after them but not a neat-freak who become upset when the ferret decides to demolish a roll of paper towels across the floor of the room. But to be honest, bigger than a ferret owner needs is a sense of humor to deal with these annoying little bugs but adorable.
If you are looking for a book about ferrets, I suggest You Pick up (and this is not an insult, simply the best book on the subject) Ferrets for Dummies. This is a fun, interesting and accurate, informative and frank great book on the subject, and is one of my personal favorites. I hope this helps, and if you have any questions about ferrets that is, please feel free to message me and I'll be happy to help.
Good luck to decide which pet to get!
