History of the Boston Red Sox
The history of the Boston Red Sox is rich in lore. The are the reigning World Series champion 2007 , and this came after a long drought with no World Series wins. Boston Red Sox are one of the oldest teams in the league and have made their home of since 1912 at Fenway Park, sometimes called "swamp."
This story of the Boston Red Sox name comes from the characteristic red uniform around the middle of the uniform. No matter what uniform the team is using, at home or abroad, or alternate, – the middle is always red.
The Red Sox club Boston was actually formed in 1901, were the team to beat and beat that made the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first World Series in 1903. They were going to win four more championships by 1918, and then entered one of the longest periods without a win in baseball history. Many people attribute their inability to win the "Curse of the Bambino" is said to have been caused by the trafficking of Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1920. That curse was reversed in 2004 when Boston Red Sox finally won and brought home its sixth World
Championship Series.
The late 1920s to early 1930s were not a good time for Boston Red Sox, who won an average of more than 100 lost in a season. In 1933, the team's fortunes began looking up when Tom Yawkey bought the Red Sox and acquired some players strong. These additions paid off smart player and the Red Sox were the strongest competitors in the league.
For the next 30 years, the Red Sox Boston to continue his ambition of winning the World Series just falling short. Ted Williams, considered one of the greatest hitters of all time lent his talent at the time and some people began calling the team "El TedSox." Ted went on to write a book, "The Science of Hitting" which is still used until today to come and baseball players.
The 1960 did not start well for the Boston Red Sox, though 1967 brought a furious race for the title and exciting. 1970 brought a new look uniform when the team began to wear a red hat with a navy blue B and navy blue top. The new look did not help the team win and never
above finished second in their division.
After a long time owner Tom Yawkey died in 1976, oversaw his wife Jean control of the Boston Red Sox at their own pace until 1992. Boston Red Sox have never won a single World Series in the property long term is Yawkey.
In 2004, the team reached another World Series and it started badly with the injured players and was very close games. However, in their series once again to match the Cardinals Boston Red Sox broke the Curse of the Bambino "and brought home a World Series back to Boston. A surreal touch many people consider an omen good luck was the total lunar eclipse that occurred during Game 4. The moon was red on the Busch Stadium and the Red Sox won the game 10 minutes before the end of the eclipse.
Just to prove the "Curse of the Bambino" was a part of the history of the Boston Red Sox, the team won the Series 2007 World before the Colorado Rockies. Ensure the Boston Red Sox continued reputation as one of the best teams in the history of baseball.
