Spools Basic

Mig Welding Basics: Mig Wire Installation
Installation of mig welding wire is really very simple. The first step is to ensure you are using a very high quality mig welding wire. Why? You can have so many troubles, mig welding wire no food, burning the back, excess splashing, birds nest and so on.
Assuming there are no old spool of wire in the mig welder mig. The first think you have to do is open physically or welding machine wire feed box up.
Then you have to remove a pin or pin nut large plastic bucket attached to or axis of the welding wire will slide over. Now open the box of mig wire, check that the cable size right that you want to use and the proper type of wire. They also give you a quick look and check for rust.
Lift and slide the print queue on the axis or center. Replace the cotter pin or plastic nut.
Now go to the end of the MIG welding gun and remove the nozzle / shroud. You leave screw or cut depending on the brand of the welding torch. When turned off, remove the contact tip by unscrewing it with pliers.
Adjust nozzle and contact tip to one side.
Back to the mig wire and between the spool of wire and MIG welding torch which attaches to the front of the machine or the feeder remote wire is the feed rollers or rollers of the unit.
There will be some kind of closure that can be opened fired. This action increase the feed roller lets the top and insert the cable into the drive rollers.
Note that the feed rollers Usually there are two slots. The cable has to sit in one of these slots. On the side of the feed rollers will be a mark that shows what size wire hit for use in the slot.
In general, mig welding machines come with two different sized slots. For example, 0.9mm and 1.2mm which is 0.035 "and 0.045.
Make sure the diameter of mig welding wire meets the trees of suitable size in the feed roller. When running welding wire precision is necessary to use the roll feed slot on the right for the correct size diameter wire mig.
You can get away with using a slightly different size feed rollers when running a low quality cheapie mig wire. Why is this? This is due to wire diameter tolerance is up and down. Thus the cable will become increasingly thick and thin all the time that the feed rollers offset size slightly wrong.
I do not recommend all this for anyone who is serious about making money in a production environment soldering or welding and manufacturing business. This will cause many problems.
Now you have to carefully and I stress the utmost care to find wire mig and stick to it and not let go. If the top tub, whirlpool, spa and have a big mess of mig wire all over the place.
With the end of mig wire feed it into the rollers driver, you have to go through a small feeding tube. This helps to guide the wire onto the feed rollers.
Keep cord feed rolls past the driver and at the beginning of mig welding gun. Feed through a foot or so.
Lower and lock the latch for the rollers of the unit, and adjusting back to the right the number one or the lightest possible setting. Then screw / adjust the tension a bit.
Then if using gas, turn the bottle to save the expensive gas welding was the welding gun and cable straight out from the iron and pull the trigger. The cable slowly feeding through the cover and pop out the holder of the tip. You can crank up the speed adjuster to get there faster progress through cable.
Now when the cable emerges put the point of contact or contact of the tube again. Put the nozzle back and cut the cable to half an inch out.
You are almost done now. Once the gas. Now you just want the wire feed mechanism of tension to be as light as possible not to deform the shape of the welding wire. Distort the shape of the welding wire if premature wear of the feed rollers simply because of excessive force. This will cause uneven wear on the contact tip and the welding wire have small pieces of material and tight shaved off of it will fall on your shirt of the torch, and eventually cause it to accumulate internal resistance welding cause more problems down the runway.
