Inexpensive Gifts for Writers
A gift for the writer in Your Life doesn’t have to cost as much as a laptop. Most writers I know get excited going to an office supply store. They love to browse for special pens, notebooks and anything else they need for the office. And while most writers will appreciate a gift certificate to an office supply chain or a book store, the gifts listed below will add an element of surprise and a thoughtful touch.
Whether it’s for a birthday, a special holiday or for no reason at all, the following gift ideas are sure to keep your writer motivated.
Coffee Mugs – Like most people, writers rely on some form of caffeine to keep them writing throughout the day and into the night. A mug with a writing related saying on it is sure to keep them awake. Adding a pound of their favorite coffee adds a nice touch to this gift!
T-Shirts – Give them something they can wear while working on their prose. Let’s face it, t-shirts are comfy and when your writer is sitting at their computer wracking their brain about the next chapter, it’s important to be comfortable. T-Shirts that pertain to writing are fun and inspiring!
Journals – No writer should be without one. Journals come in hundreds of styles and have various uses. Some writers use them for random thoughts, character development, story ideas and snippets of dialogue. Whatever the reason, having a journal handy is invaluable.
Books on Writing – There are thousands of books on every form of writing. From instruction to inspiration, in print, e-book or CD, you really can’t go wrong with this gift. Well, unless your writer ends up spending more time reading about writing than actually writing!
Subscription to a Writing Magazine – There are numerous magazines dedicated to writing. Some are genre specific, but most are for writing in general. Save your writer a trip to the book store and have their favorite magazine delivered right to their door!
Mini, Hand-Held Recording Device – These are awesome to keep in the car or in your pocket. Also, most are digital and don’t require a tape. When the muse strikes and your writer can’t grab a pen to jot down their brilliant idea, they can just pick up this handy device and hit the record button. Your writer won’t ever have to worry about losing a precious gem of dialogue or next article idea again!
Package of Blank CD’s – Every writer needs CD’s in order to save a copy of their manuscript. They may also need a hard copy for submissions. One can never have enough blank CD’s!
Digital Photo Frames – These can be costly, but you can find a decent one for about fifty-dollars. These photo frames add a nice touch to any desk. Why clutter your writer’s space with numerous frames when they can have one that holds all their favorite photos?
Tote Bags – These are great for carrying those books on writing. When your writer wants to escape to a local café or park, these are also useful for holding those chapters your writer needs to revise. You can find tote bags with pictures of famous writers too!
There are so many gifts you can present to the writer in your life. In addition to the ones mentioned above, you can also send your writer to a writing conference or give them a coupon worth a specific amount of undisturbed, free time.
Whatever You Choose, giving a gift that will inspire their creativity is priceless!

Did technology hurt or nearly kill a multi bilion dollar American Industry?
Think of all the Billions of dollars lost from all the illegal movie downloads on all the household computer’s across the globe. The Writers guild strike was All About this. They wanted to find a way to protect their industry. But personal computers were designed to share information and NOT to keep information vaulted. Including digitized files of Hollywood movies. Especially movies that haven’t been released onto DVD/Blue Ray yet. Imagine how much money our once profitable American industry could have made to help our economy. But Nooooooooo. But maybe nobody cares because it’s a Jewish industry anyway? If that’s the case then they are all racist and they can kiss their movies goodbye.
This is a very easy question. The motivation to create a system that would allow users to download free music is one of the largest motivations of the computing industry.
Alot of people who get rich in the music industry are uneducated and dont know what to do with the money that they have. So by creating computes we took the money out of the music industry and put it into the information industry.
This is one of the ways that smart people brought the profit of the music industry down. Which will in turn make them work harder to make there money. Producing high quality music and more performances. More conventional ways of raising funds rather than selling cds.
With the advent of the tape the music industry boomed. WIth the advent of the CD it boomed again. With the advent of programs such as ffmpeg the music industy crashed just like the housing market did.
Yes technology is what is changing the world its taking money out of other markets and putting it into its own. Technology is smart and it eventually will consume alot of businesses. Buy enchancing others.
